Confidentiality Agreement:
All participants in this group are required to respect confidentiality. This means that everything said in the group needs to stay in the group. Nothing said in the group should be talked about outside of the group. People are being brave by being vulnerable and sharing personal information. Not only is HIPAA a law (HIPAA Act of 1996) but everyone must respect confidentiality so participants continue to feel like it's a safe space to share personal information.
Group Rules/Policies:
-Inappropriate/Topics not appropriate for a support group setting:
Please refrain from talking about topics not appropriate for a group setting: Some examples include-(politics, self harm, suicidal ideations, drugs, etc) If there is something you would like to talk about in the support group but are not sure if it’s appropriate please email me so we can discuss it.
-Joining a support group does not = therapy:
Please remember that joining a support group is not to be used as a substitute for therapy services. I’m not a licensed clinician. Although it’s not required to participate in the support group, I do encourage everyone to have an outpatient therapist, the support group is a resource only! I have a resource list I have composed for therapy services/resources available upon request.
-Canceling Group:
In the event that I need to cancel group I will do my best to email you within 24 hours. Please check your email prior to coming to group to make sure you do not see a cancellation email in your inbox.
-Safety Concerns:
While I do understand that mental health can be challenging and I value your safety, please do not come to group if you have active safety concerns such as active suicidal plans, or self harm intentions … I would like to remind anyone struggling with this that I’m not a licensed clinician nor is a group setting the appropriate place to address these concerns. I encourage anyone struggling with this to seek professional help and to have a safety plan in place if safety concerns do arise.
